Each year, many companies may receive letters or emails regarding their annual company review and ASIC renewal fees. Unfortunately, some of these notices are sent by third-party organisations and can easily be mistaken for official correspondence from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).
If Halpin Partners is listed as your company’s registered office, you do not need to pay any ASIC renewal notice received directly from another provider or third-party company without first checking with us.
How the Official ASIC Renewal Process Works
Where Halpin Partners acts as your registered office:
- ASIC sends the official Annual Company Statement and renewal invoice directly to our office
- We send the notice to you to review and notify us of any changes
- We then issue the official ASIC renewal invoice to you, together with payment instructions
- This ensures your company records remain accurate and your ASIC obligations are managed correctly
Our invoice will clearly identify:
- The ASIC annual review fee
- Your company details
- The applicable review date
- Payment instructions issued through Halpin Partners
Why You Should Be Careful
Third-party ASIC notices are often designed to look official and may:
- Include ASIC-related wording or references
- Request urgent payment
- Charge significantly higher fees than the actual ASIC renewal amount
- Include additional “service” or “processing” charges that are not required
In many cases, these businesses are offering an optional intermediary service only and are not affiliated with ASIC.
If a third-party notice is paid:
- You may end up paying substantially more than the actual ASIC fee
- You may unintentionally engage another provider to manage your ASIC compliance
- It can create confusion regarding who is responsible for your company records and annual review obligations
What You Should Do
If you receive any ASIC-related renewal notice or correspondence and are unsure whether it is legitimate:
